I only leave reviews when I get exceptional service (if you don't have something nice to say..). Russ Hay's is exceptional. I have ridden my bike across nine countries in the last six years and I have dealt with a lot of bike shops, often with the same problem that none of them seemed to be able to fix (gearing issue). Russ Hay's experienced staff fixed it. The welcoming staff, the exceptional service, the perfect assessment of what was needed, and the fair cost for parts and labor were all top notch. I wouldn't go anywhere else if I had a choice. I just wish they had a shop in Aruba (my next biking adventure)!

This store helped me purchase and set up my first road bike. It was on short notice as I was riding in the BC Law Enforcement Memorial Ride to Remember in just a few days. The bike was reasonably priced. Staff took the time to make sure the bike fit me properly, and was working well. I would not have been able to complete the ride without their assistance and expertise.

Long overdue review. This is by far the best bike shop in Victoria. The staff go above and beyond to help customers and the service department has kept my bike in great shape over the years. These guys truly know their stuff and welcome cyclists from all walks of life. Thank you RH!

I've been a regular at Russ Hay's The Bicycle Shop for various needs, and each visit reaffirms why it's my go-to place. The staff here are always friendly and welcoming, making every service visit a pleasant experience. A notable instance was back in May when I was eyeing a Specialized STR. They didn't have it in stock at the time, and I ended up going to Nanaimo to get it. Mike, from the shop, was incredibly understanding and not pushy at all about trying to make the sale through them. His genuine happiness for me getting the bike I wanted was a testament to their customer-first approach. This level of trust and service led me to purchase a bike for my mom from here, and I've consistently relied on them for all my cycling needs since. Without a doubt, Russ Hay's The Bicycle Shop is a five-star establishment and the best bike shop in Victoria.

I bought a Wahoo Kickr Core trainer from Russ Hays some time ago and it worked amazing until it didn't. I brought it in last Thursday and Aaron (aka Fluffy) said "leave it with me I'll see to it that you are fixed up." He called today (Tuesday) with the great news that his supplier was replacing the trainer with a new model. I've been dealing with Russ Hays for almost 10 years they always provide great friendly service. Thanks for all that you do!

Bought a Specialized Aethos in July 2021 and have had nothing but problems with it. First issue was rear derailleur needed replacement under warranty in July 2022. When I got my bike back Mike noted my headset was loose and tried to fix it but bearings needed replacing. Tried ordering new bearings at that time but they said they couldn't get them... Placed on order which never happened. March 2023 brought bike in because detailers were acting up again and after some fiddling they got my front working but he (Ben) never touched the back. Was also told any issues I was having was because drivetrain was worn so I asked to purchase new cassette which they didn't have in stock... Said they'd order one which never happened yet again. ( Bought new cassette online) Asked about warranty for derailleurs while bike was still under warranty which I was told Ben had sent an email to SRAM which yet again apparently never happen so now it's November and my bike is no longer under warranty and they've ACTUALLY looked at the rear derailleur and sent it to SRAM they won't cover replacement even though I brought it in while it was still covered. This used to be a shop I trusted but never will I set foot in there again nor recommend to anyone ever again. Bottom line if you like being gaslit and not getting what you ask for this is the place. Edit: Note the response below calling me a liar because they don't like a bad review.

Awesome friendly staff! Were wonderful pulling a massive nail out of my tire even letting me watch how they did the repair and answering my questions about prevention. Also bought a lock which I had a rare issue with a sticky key, they exchanged easy and got me set up with a new one quickly, I didn't even have to go through the lock company. Thank y'all!

We recently purchased two bikes (Giant and Specialized) along with helmets and accessories. Aaron provided exceptional service and took the time to explain specific details and benefits of the various bikes and equipment. Overall an outstanding experience and we were fully outfitted and riding the next day!
